Art Journal Project 2014-2015

An art journal is a hand made book that uses mixed media techniques in order to reflect and record one's weekly and daily life. In our class we also use it to visually communicate self chosen emotional themes that warrant in depth exploration and expression.

3D AP is a college level studio course that is available to art students who have completed at least 2 art classes and have instructor permission. Students work towards submitting a portfolio that is comprised of 3 sections: Breadth, Concentration and Quality.

The Breadth section highlights the broad range of work that the student can do and is available in any 3D medium. These usually end up being a collection of works from the student's tenure in the art classes and can be class assigned projects. A total of 8 works are required.

The Concentration section is more individualized and is what the student decides that he or she would like to develop in either concept or technique. There are a total of 6 pieces required for the portfolio for this section. The following slide show highlights some examples of this years students and what they chose for their concentrations. Matt chose to explore the simplicity of hollow bead forms, Krystie delved into secret spaces, while Carl favored forms from nature.

Quality is a total of 5 works from either Breadth or Concentration sections.
